Thanks very much to
our server/bandwidth donor! Please take a moment to let him
know that you appreciate his assistance:
Please participate in the
SOS Quick Poll at the bottom of this page. With enough support, perhaps
the fans can communicate to Chicago their desire to PURCHASE ($$$) a legitimate copy of
Stone of Sisyphus. If nothing else, it will demonstrate that the existence
of this site is not cutting into potential future monetary compensation to
Chicago Records or Rhino Records should
they ever release it.

I'm not going to go into the history and origins of this
recording. Chances are pretty good that if you're here, you already
know the background on Chicago's Stone of Sisyphus album, also known
as SOS. If you don't, check out some of the links lower down
on this page.
You won't find any annoying advertising or pop-up
windows here. This site is 100% free to all visitors. I just want to clarify
that I did not put this site up to make a few bucks, I receive no monetary
gain in any way by administering this site, nor does the host donor who
allows the files to be downloaded from his server. Chicago has tacitly approved the spread of Stone of Sisyphus
"bootlegs" up
to this point (at least publicly), and I have removed the potential anyone
might have to make a few bucks when copying and shipping a cassette or CD,
or trying to sell copies on eBay.
Chicago's approval (or lack of obvious disapproval) at the spread of the
copies of Stone of Sisyphus seems to support this site, since no
one is making a dishonest buck with it. I will immediately take down this
site should Chicago Records or Rhino Records request as such. I
suspect that the members of Chicago might actually support this site, however, since the continued
existence and popularity of the Stone of Sisyphus album, perpetuated by the
continued existence of this site, can only serve to sustain (or maybe even
increase) the potential pool of future buyers should this ever find its way onto
a CD. Chicago/Rhino: Please see the results of the "SOS Quick
Poll" near the bottom of this page.
To explain myself, I don't really see this site as a
bootleg issue. I feel that a bootleg is something people make and
distribute to avoid paying for a product on the fair market. Since
Chicago has apparently, for whatever reason, permanently shelved this album, it is impossible for
any of us to buy an official print. No matter what we say or do, they show no
interest or intent in changing their ways. Most Chicago fans would
jump at the chance to purchase the Stone of Sisyphus CD if Chicago Records
or Rhino Records would
ever release it, even though many have already heard it via this site or
obtained it some other way. However, no true Chicago fan should have to go to their grave without
hearing this excellent work. Enough said.
